Winter Jumping Seat Camp

For the day clinics, parents/guardians will need to pick up and drop off. We do not provide lodging. Parents may stay to watch. Lunch is provided for Participants.

For health & safety purposes, it is recommended camp participants have show experience in the respective discipline.

JUMPING SEAT CLINICS:

Participants must be 14 years of age by the start of camp date through rising seniors in High School (not graduating before clinic). It is recommended that riders are actively competing at minimum in the 2’9” USEF equitation divisions or IEA Open division. It is recommended that participants are able to demonstrate advanced flatwork (counter canter, lateral movements, lengthenings & collections, etc).

Camp Includes:

  • Lunch both days, snacks & drinks, camp shirt, 2-4 sessions, 1 NCEA educational meeting, session with strength & conditioning coach
  • Video evaluation with Coach after camps; recorded voice over video & questions

Schedule:

Day 1

  • 8:30 AM Start Time - Participants arrive to start AT 8:30 AM
    • Explain format
    • Meet Current SAs & Captains
    • Give tour & explain tack
    • Review horse care expectations
    • Split into equal Teams (Yellow & Blue)
  • 9:30 AM Meet Horses & Get Ready for Flat Practice
    • Blue Team helps set up flatbox
    • Yellow Team tacks horses
  • 10:00 AM Begin Flat Practice - Yellow Team
    • Blue: Wrapping & horse care
  • 11:15 AM Begin Flat Practice - Blue Team
    • Yellow: Wrapping & horse care
  • 12:15 PM Finish Flat Practice - Blue Team
    • Blue Team helps tear down flatbox
    • Yellow Team untacks horses
  • 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM Lunch/Break
    • Lunch will be provided for each participant
    • Participants are given time to go to lunch/hotel, if needed.
  • 1:30 PM Meet at the Barn & Get Ready for Fences Practice
    • Yellow Team helps set up course
    • Blue Team tacks horses
  • 2:00 PM Fences Practice Begins
    • Each group will ride for 60 minutes
  • 4:30 PM Finish Fences Practice
  • 4:45 PM Set Up for Scrimmage & Go Over Meet Information
    • Both Teams to help set & walk course with Coach
    • Banding practice to prepare for scrimmage
  • 6:00 PM Participants Leave/Camp Done for Day 1

Day 2

  • 8:30 AM Start Time - Participants arrive to be ready to start AT 8:30a
    • Go over draw & horse description list
    • Current SAs to be warming horses up
  • 9:00 AM Fences Scrimmage Starts (9 jumps)
    • Each rider will get a 4 minute warm-up & 4 jumps;
  • 10:30 AM Switch to Flatbox
    • Both Teams to help set Flatbox
    • Go over draw & horse description list
    • 4 minute warm-up
    • SAs to judge & scribe; some to supervise holding/set-up
  • 12:00 PM Jumping Seat Riding Portion Over
    • Both Teams help untack horses & tear down
  • 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM Group Lunch & NCEA Information
    • Tips for being on a riding team
    • What makes a “teammate”
      • Going from individual to team
    • Good ways to show yourself off
    • Compliance: Know the whens & hows
  • 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM Final Notes & Video Review
    • Final notes; quick evaluation of overall participants; any quick tips
    • Video reviews to be sent within 2 week post camp window; recorded with voice over & coach commentary
  • 2:30 PM Riding portion over
    • Time to change for workout session
  • 3:00 PM: Tour of Stanley J Athletic Center
    • Meet with current strength & conditioning coach, Josilyn Carrillo
    • 60 minute weights workout
  • 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM: Final notes from camp & questions for coaches

What is the refund/payment policy?

  • Payment in full is due at time of registration.
  • $50 of tuition is forfeited anytime after enrollment.
  • 50% of tuition is forfeited 14 days before the event begins.
  • 100% of tuition is forfeited 6 days before the event begins.

Additional Information: If a camper will require any accommodations due to special needs, we ask that you notify us via email or in writing of those needs a minimum of two weeks prior to the camp start date so we can make the accommodations.

Camp is open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender. The camp is open on a first-come, first-serve basis to any individual who satisfies the age, grade level and/or gender requirements set forth in the registration materials.
